How to Prevent Medicare Fraud | CMS Rules

The federal government is attempting to curtail wrongdoing when it comes to marketing Medicare Advantage plans. The objective makes sense.

  • Currently, calling a commercial hotline, or sending in a reply card will mean that your call will be transferred, or your contact information will be shared with many agents/agencies.

  • Currently, if an agency sells a lot, then it gets extra money from a third party (carrier) for use to create further marketing material, etc.

  • This extra money comes from somewhere (you can connect the dots).

In order to dissuade financial people (like me), the rules were changed. I stated on LinkedIn that “lawyers are certain to be called,” because the proposed changes were dramatic.

Bottom line: you don’t need a crystal ball to reasonably understand how the stresses on the system will affect the stakeholders. That said, if you do not understand these factors, how large they are, the parties involved? Then you are recklessly guessing and opining.

I may have an opinion or a guess, that’s true. Reckless? Nope.

Large Employer Retiree Benefit Plans Under Fire

There's a full chapter in a "certain book" about this specific topic. There has always been a reason for that.

The path to Medigap, for those who have large employer retiree benefit plans, has become very cloudy and complicated, varying from location to location.

This is a Specific Case

The general idea is still that Medicare Advantage is an annual contract. EVERY SINGLE DETAIL can change, every year, no exceptions. The differences in access to providers and the cost of that access can change dramatically. Consideration is warranted, choosing by yourself is not a great idea. Executing (signing up) in the right sequence, which can matter, by yourself? Do as you wish, that is your prerogative.

Note: ANY TIME I USE THE WORDS “your prerogative,” that is tantamount to me saying “That is a very, very bad idea, for a list of reasons too long to mention. Those reasons may not be immediately apparent, they will appear at some point, you can chisel that into a stone.”
